We had left Cabral and had went to Coshin. We were much better received there and were very successful with the trading post and in gaining commercial treaties for Portugal. I’m home sick, but I would do this again anytime. I’m also a little nervous to go back aswell. I’m not exactly sure how the king will react to my disobeying his route guide and the lost ships.
We are returning to Portugal with pearls, diamonds, porcelain, and such spices as pepper, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. This might be the beginning of fame and fortune for new discoveries. My men and I are going to receive some great rewards. I’m sure that is making them anxious to arrive back home. But, with the great loss of lives on the voyages, especially the loss of Bartlolmeu Dias who went down with his ship off the Cape of Good Hope, this might not be as happy of a homecoming as we expect.
